2012 Santa run at Old Trafford
It was a Frosty morning on the 2nd December when 32 staff, volunteers, parent/carers and supporters of Talbot House descended on Old Trafford, home of Manchester United, to take part in the annual Santa run. The event is held in order for people to raise money for their chosen charity or organisation through sponsorship.
There was the 5k run and a 2k run in which people had the option to either run, walk, hop or get round which ever way they chose. Participates from Talbot House either ran the 5k or did the 2k at a walk led by our very own Jo Moore (Support worker) who also carried a donation bucket along the way.
On the way to the run Jo Moore and her gang of 7 who were listening to a shout out on the radio for the Santa run experienced travel problems on the Tram but against all the odds they arrived on time. At Old Trafford football ground there was a real festive atmosphere with carol singing and a community market, and with around 200 other participants everyone got into their Santa suits ready for the run.
At the start line there was a warm up session then they were off in a flurry of red and white. The course took them on a circuit through the streets surrounding the ground and finally around the football pitch to the finish line. Everyone finished in great time and even managed to get in some photos with the stars (pictured Olivia with Anthony Cotton).
Louis (Talbot House runner) ‘What a great time I had for my first run, will definitely be doing The Manchester 10k in the summer. Thank you for the opportunity.’
