Broadcasting live from Talbot House
BBC Radio Manchester came to Talbot House today the 26th March 2013 to do a live broadcast about the cuts and changes to benefits that will affect parent/carers of children and adults with learning disabilities. The radio team which included broadcaster Sam Walker (pictured) and two colleagues arrived in the morning to set up. Parent/carers started to arrive ready to share their concerns about the effects the changes to benefits will have on them and their families. Benefits discussed were work capability assessments, council tax benefit, bed room tax and ILF to name but a few. The radio team were overwhelmed and moved by the situations that families with a child with a learning disability are finding themselves in. The last word came from Fran (Assistant Manager) "We have been going for 35 years and we will continue to provide this vital service."
