New prescription service for North Manchester patients

5th September 2011

Patients who use catheters can now receive support from a new NHS service for managing catheter prescriptions.

During August 2011, specialist NHS continence nurses will take on responsibility for prescribing catheter products instead of GP’s. The team will be based in Newton Heath Health Centre, but will run clinics all over North Manchester. The service will offer patients telephone or face to face advice about using their catheter. Patients can also choose how they get their products delivered. Options include having their prescription…

  •  posted to their home address,
  •  sent to a pharmacy of their choice for them to collect, or
  •  delivered using a Dispensing Appliance Company (sometimes called a DAC).

All catheter patients in North Manchester will receive a letter about the service in the next few weeks. If you would like to join the service you do not need to do anything. If you do not want to join the service please reply to the letter, when you receive it. If you have any questions or want more information, you can call the Continence Service on 0161 681 1964
