Good as new sale and coffee morning

1st February 2013

On the 31st January 2013 Talbot House opened its doors to the second ‘Good as new sale and coffee morning’. For some time parent/carers and the general public have been generously donating all sorts of items from cuddly toys to clothing and jigsaw puzzles. Volunteer Helen Bottomley and a team of Talbot House volunteers have been tirelessly sorting through the donations to separate the sellable items from the items that can be sold as rags.

On the day Talbot House was set up with all the items put on display so perspective customers could rummage at their leisure. Items for sale included ladies wear, men’s wear, children’s wear, shoes, books, bedding, towels and various knick-knacks. As well as the opportunity to find a bargain, customers were treated to free coffee and cake which was served in the cafe by the cafe staff.

Lots of people came through the doors and generously spent their money contributing towards the service that Talbot House provides. We are confident that everyone came away with a bargain or two.

Helen quote: ‘I am still counting the money but am pleased to say it looks like about £400. Thank you to all who came and donated, looking forward to next month.’

The next sale will be on the 28th February 2013. If you have anything you would like to donate  please call 0161 203 4095 or drop it here at Talbot House.
