Let it Snow

5th January 2012

Christmas came early at Talbot House when we held our traditional Christmas Show on 16th December to kick start the holiday festivities.

The Centre itself was festooned with a mass of decorations which helped to create a real Christmassy atmosphere. The annual Christmas Show was such a draw that it was standing room only at the back as parents and carers packed into the Parents’ Lounge to watch Master of Ceremonies, John Bottomley, get the show under way.

Staff and volunteers had all dressed up in Christmas themed costumes to entertain the audience with a string of well-known carols and popular Christmas songs. Hilary opened the show with a lovely rendition of Mistletoe and Wine. Michelle sang her favourite carol ‘Away in a Manger’ before Geoffrey and his sisters, Collette and Louise, performed ‘Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer’ to great applause. Resident beautician Viv Wells entertained everyone with a solo version of Santa Baby with volunteer, Martin. Other performers included comedy twosome Bernie and June (All I want for Christmas) and double act Helen and Sabrina (Wish it could be Christmas every day and other songs).

To close the show, everyone joined in a Christmas Sing-a-Long and when we were all singing Irving Berlin’s festive classic, ‘White Christmas’, it even began to snow outside for a magical few moments!

It was a real fun and entertaining Christmas show that was master-minded by Support Worker, Jo Moore, who did a fantastic job pulling the event together. She said ‘I’m really proud of all our performers and extremely grateful to everyone for supporting us and for helping to make this year’s show a great success. I hope it has given everybody a little taste of Christmas!’

After the show everyone tucked in to a delicious Christmas buffet that Catering Manager, Kathryn Hopkinson and her team had made.

Jo is aiming for the 2012 Christmas Show to be bigger and better than ever!
